EDUROAM project
EDUROAM aims to provide secure wireless access to the Internet, to
students and staff of higher education and research institutions while
on the move. It covers most European countries and some Asia / Pacific
/ Americas countries. All the information about the EDUROAM project
is on: www.eduroam.org
and more precisely for France on www.eduroam.fr.
The authentication infrastructure implemented is based on the 802.1X
standard and uses the RADIUS protocol. This ensures a high level of
security as well as the confidentiality of the data.
Charter and policy
Eduroam.fr charter (federation)
The eduroam charter describes the rights and commitments that institutions must meet. This is the national aspect of the service, called federation.
Eduroam policy (confederation)
The document European Confederation eduroam policy recalls NREN's objectives, structure and commitments. This international aspect (confederation) implies a high relationship of trust between each participant.
EDUROAM at CRHEA
CRHEA (Centre de Recherche sur l'Hétéro-Epitaxie et ses Applications) proposes to its visitors coming from a member institution of the project EDUROAM, to connect in Wi-Fi with with their usual identifier and password, as if they were in their establishment of origin.
Set up your most common equipment for Eduroam use
To connect to the Eduroam network from a PC running the Windows 10 operating system, follow these instructions:
1 - Click on the network / wifi icon in the taskbar at the bottom right, then choose the network "eduroam"
2 - Cliqk onsur "Connect"
3 - Enter your account address (eg Crhea) and your password :
To connect to the Eduroam network from a PC running the Windows 7 operating system, follow these instructions:
1 - Open Network and Sharing Center:
2 - Open "Manage Wireless Networks":
3 - Click "Add to add the Eduroam network":
4 - Click "Create network Profile manually":
5 - Enter "eduroam" for the network name and "WPA2 - Enterprise" for the security type and click "Next":
6 - Choose the Security tab:
7 - Edit Settings:
8 - Uncheck Validate server certificate and check AddTrust External CA Root and configure the authentication method:
9 - Uncheck Use automatically...:
10 - Validate by clicking on OK:
11 - Edit Advanced Settings:
12 - Check Specify Authentication Mode, choose User Authentication, and click Register Ident:
13 - Enter your account address (eg CRHEA) and your account password:
14 - Validate by clicking on OK:
Wifi connection procedure on the Eduroam network with an Android phone version 7
To connect to the Eduroam network from a phone equipped with the Android operating system, follow these instructions:
1 - Go to the "Settings" button:2 - Select the Wifi settings menu:

3 - If you are within reach of a terminal broadcasting the network "Eduroam" it must appear in the list of "Wi-Fi networks", select it:

4 - Configure the parameters as described below:
- Type of security: 802.1x EAP
- EAP authentication method: PEAP
- Phase 2 authentication: MSCHAPV2
- CA certificate: unspecified
- Identity: your account address (ex CRHEA: user@crhea.cnrs.fr)
- Anonymous: leave empty
- Password: your account password

Wifi connection procedure on the Eduroam network with an older Android phone
To connect to the Eduroam network from a phone with an older Android operating system the procedure remains relatively the same:
1 - Go to the "Settings" button:
2 - Select "Wireless and network":

3 - Wifi settings:

4 - If you are within reach of a terminal broadcasting the network "Eduroam" it must appear in the list of "Wi-Fi networks", select it:

5 - In this window modify the different options as follows :
- EAP method : PEAP
- Phase2 authentication : MSCHAPV2
- CA certificate : Non Défini
- User Certificate: Not Defined
- Identity: enter your email address in the form user@crhea.cnrs.fr for the example CRHEA
- Anonymous: leave empty
- Password: enter your domain account password
- Validate all these changes and start the connection to Eduroam by clicking on "Connection"
