Partner 1

Logo Inphyni

INPHYNI is a new joint research unit between CNRS and Université Côte d’Azur, resulting from the merger in 2018 of Laboratoire de Physique de la Matière Condensée and Institut Non Linéaire de Nice. The team involved in the OPOINt project is composed of members of the Nonlinear Integrated Optic Team and of the OPTINIL platform. They have a long experience in designing, fabricating and characterizing guided wave nonlinear devices. This group will provide to the project all the equipment necessary for linear and nonlinear characterizations of waveguides in the visible and the near IR. This includes tunable pulsed and CW lasers, coupling benches, optical microscopes, camera and detectors.

Partner 2

Logo Crhea

CRHEA is a CNRS laboratory in Sophia Antipolis devoted to the epitaxy of wide-bandgap semiconductors (GaN, ZnO and SiC) by MBE (7 reactors including 5 for GaN), metalorganic vapour phase epitaxy (4 reactors for GaN) and chemical vapor deposition (3 reactors). It should be noted that CRHEA pioneered and contributed to many of the developments in GaN technology, including the growth of GaN on Silicon, the nanophotonics in GaN on Si, non linear optics, polarity inversion, just to cite those useful for the project. This growth activity, which is the essence of CRHEA, is supported by basic optical characterization (photoluminescence and reflectivity), as well as by heavier structural characterization means, including TEM, HRXRD and X-ray photoemission spectroscopy. Finally, CRHEA hosts its own clean-room facility (CRHEATEC) where several kinds of optoelectronic devices, ranging from laser diodes to LEDs, are fabricated and subsequently tested.

Partner 3

Logo C2N

C2N is a new joint research unit between CNRS and Université Paris Sud, resulting from the merger in 2016 of Laboratoire de Photonique et Nanostructures and Institut d’Electronique Fondamentale. In 2018, C2N has moved into a new building on Plateau de Saclay. The new C2N building hosts the largest academic clean room facility in France (2800 m2) supported by 35 engineers and technicians. C2N has all the technological equipments needed for the project, including e-beam lithography, ICP etching, bonding techniques and the expertise to use these equipments in an optimal way. C2N, in collaboration with CRHEA, has developed for more than 10 years an expertise in III-N processing for nanophotonics that has been recognized by numerous invitations in international conferences over the last years.

Partner 4

Logo Fresnel

INSTITUT FRESNEL The Fresnel Institute is a joint research unit between Aix Marseille University, Ecole Centrale Marseille and the CNRS. It hosts approximately 180 persons dedicated to research in the fields of photonics, electromagnetism, signal and image analysis. The present project will be conducted both in the Laser Material Interaction group and Optical Coating group of the Fresnel Institute.
